Mr Gautam Bose is a law graduate from Delhi University registered with the Bar Council of Delhi. He began his career as a practicing lawyer with Supreme Court and Delhi High Court and then took the role of a corporate legal professional, with more than 30 years of in-depth experience across diverse industry sectors such as Telecommunications, IT & ITES, Automobiles, Manufacturing and Financial Services industries, M&A, Maritime and Admiralty Law with International exposure.
In his long career, Gautam has had wide ranging exposure to legal matters relating to Corporate Governance; Regulatory & Licensing issues of Telecom business; Global Merger & Acquisition; Transactional International Contracts; Negotiations; Court Procedures; Civil & Criminal Law; Company Law; Constitutional Law; Corporate Law; Conflicts Resolutions; Arbitration; Competition Law; Employment & Labour Law; Maritime Law; Due Diligence; Foreign Investment Promotion Board; Intellectual Property Rights; Legal Drafting; Statutory Compliance; Risk Assessment; Compliance Investigations; Knowledge of United States Foreign Corrupt Practices Act & United Kingdom Bribery Act.
He has conducted special training on US FCPA and UK BA to Leadership team and business teams particularly, the Sales and Global Procurement and highlight the ingredients of India’s Prevention of Corruption Act.
He was the legal counsel of the United Nations and served as United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Philippines and Thailand.
Well regarded and respected by the industry, he has deep insights on the working of the Telecom sector. In his capacity as Vice President Global - Legal and General Counsel for India of Reliance Globalcom Limited he has handled many complex legal issues relating to foreign telecom operators, capacity swap agreements, virtual PoP agreements, dispute resolution in respect of subsea cable cut/damages, data privacy, data security etc. As a key member of leadership team of Reliance ADA Group he anchored various M&A and IPO activities relating to Flag Telecom, Hutchison Essar, MTN South Africa, Zain, Aircel, GCX-Pacific Century Cyber works, GCX Telstra etc.
As Vice President and Head Litigation – Group Corporate Legal of Reliance Communications Ltd, he was responsible for managing a team of 80 lawyers for handling litigation management and IPR issues while managing legal teams across the country.
While working as Global Ethics Officer & Regional Compliance Counsel with Nokia Solutions and Networks, he had an opportunity to demonstrate functional excellence in providing legal opinions on various matters to ensure compliance with the prevailing legal regime. He has worked in the legal domain with prestigious entities such as Bharti Airtel, Daewoo Motors India Ltd, Escorts Ltd and with Asian African Legal Consultative Organization.
Lastly, Gautam was the Legal Advisor to Ravexim Muneris, an entity that initiates Pre-NCLT stressed assets management advisory. He was actively involved in Working Capital Advisory, Trade Finance Advisory, Capital Structure Advisory, Project Long-term Financing, Refinancing/Securitization, Financial Regulatory Advisory, Private Equity Advisory, Merger & Acquisition etc. He was also visiting Professor with Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi for several years.
